Over the last 9 months or so we've been working with a local school, 'Woodnewton - a learning community'. Out of this work has grown a partnership between ZF4 and the school, of which 'Family Map' is the first fruit.
Family Map is software for schools. Although targeted in the first instance at the UK SureStart, Infant and Primary educational sector, it doesn't take a huge leap of imagination to see how the software can easily fit into secondary and tertiary education sectors.
At it's heart, Family Map is about recording the delivery of 'Services' to the schools 'Members'. In this it makes a radical departure from established software, allowing the school to map the data both geographically and as visual relationship networks.
Some clever maths allows the school to upload information that is then mapped geographically. The system allows users to report on who is in particular target areas, which the school can draw themselves. Comprehensive and controllable reporting facilities allow the user to get information out from the data they have put in.
ZF4 have glued together open source software to provide the finished result; and more importantly have committed 10% of their profit stream to pay back the open source developers for their invaluable input. ZF4 are committed to open source and feedback to upstream developers at every opportunity.
The system is fully supported by comprehensive online documentation and issue tracker software
